Support Administrator (Pensions Implementation Project) – Role Overview
Isio is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Pensions Implementation Project Support Administrator to join its national Client Onboarding and Change function within the Administration service line. Reporting to the Project Implementation Lead, you will play a crucial role in onboarding new pension schemes and facilitating smooth transitions into “business as usual” (BAU) operational administration teams.
This position offers a flexible hybrid workstyle and can be based out of any of Isio’s regional offices: Birmingham, Reading, Manchester, Croydon, Bristol, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Belfast.
Your primary mission will be to ensure all administrative, system, data, and operational setups are executed flawlessly ahead of scheme “Go-Live” dates, enabling long-term operational efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
- Data & Documentation Requests: Draft detailed requests for scheme data, documentation, and records from incumbent administrators.
- Governance & Action Management: Attend internal team, trustee, and incumbent administrator meetings to record accurate minutes and proactively track project deliverables.
- Member & Stakeholder Communication: Draft clear member communications, announcements, and letters for scheme onboardings.
- Operational Setup: Set up dedicated communication channels (phone lines, email inboxes, templated letters) for new schemes.
- BAU Handover & Liaison: Facilitate smooth scheme handovers to internal BAU Administration teams while liaising regularly with internal Accounts, Payroll, and Systems units.
Candidate Requirements
- Pensions Expertise: Strong technical pensions administration knowledge and familiarity with current UK pension scheme legislation.
- Experience: Ideally 2+ years of hands-on pensions administration experience, including direct liaison with clients or Trustees.
- Core Skills: Outstanding organizational abilities, sharp attention to detail, strong written/verbal communication, and proven skills in prioritizing competing project deadlines.

Career Guide & Key Insights
Moving into a project-focused implementation role within pensions administration bridges technical processing with strategic project management.
How to Excel in Pensions Project Implementation
- Master the Transition Lifecycle: Understand every milestone of a scheme transfer—from initial data extraction and data cleansing to systems loading, parallel runs, and final Go-Live sign-off.
- Build Strong Stakeholder Relationships: Handovers require trust. Work collaboratively with incumbent administrators and internal BAU teams to ensure no details fall through the cracks.
- Develop Risk-Aware Precision: Missing a legislative requirement or data field during onboarding can create major BAU bottlenecks later. Treat risk mitigation and auditing accuracy as a top priority.
Benefits of the Role
- Competitive Salary & Market-Leading Bonus: Generous base compensation paired with performance-driven bonus structures featuring stretch targets for high achievers.
- Full Study Support: Financial backing and study leave to pursue professional pensions qualifications (e.g., PMI qualifications), accompanied by salary increases upon passing exams.
- Flexible Hybrid Working: A modern workstyle offering a balance between home working and office collaboration across multiple UK locations.
- Inclusive Workplace & Adjustments: An equal-opportunity employer committed to making reasonable adjustments for candidates at every stage of the recruitment process.
How to Prepare Your CV for This Position
To present a standout application for Isio, align your CV with pensions technical knowledge, project coordination, and scheme onboarding:
- Highlight Pensions Technical Knowledge: Explicitly detail your experience with Defined Benefit (DB) or Defined Contribution (DC) schemes, legislative standards, and trustee reporting.
- Detail Implementation / Onboarding Tasks: Mention experience with scheme data transfers, drafting member communications, setting up admin channels, or data reconciliation.
- Showcase Professional Qualifications: Mention progress toward or completion of Pensions Management Institute (PMI) exams or relevant financial certifications.
- Quantify Accuracy & Scale: Highlight achievements showing how you managed complex tasks under tight deadlines (e.g., “Coordinated data requests and action tracking for 5+ concurrent scheme transitions with zero compliance errors”).
How to Prepare for an Interview
- Review the Scheme Implementation Lifecycle: Be ready to walk through the administrative steps required when bringing a new pension scheme onto a new platform.
- Demonstrate Stakeholder Tact: Prepare examples of how you handle delayed information from external third parties or incumbent administrators without derailing project timelines.
- Use the STAR Method: Frame your answers using Situation, Task, Action, Result when sharing past achievements or challenges.
Interview Questions
- Managing Stakeholder Delays: “How do you handle a scenario where an incumbent administrator is slow to supply essential scheme documentation needed for an upcoming Go-Live deadline?”
- Transition Accuracy & Minutes: “When attending complex trustee or transition meetings, how do you ensure all technical action points are accurately recorded and assigned for follow-up?”
- Prioritization Across Multiple Schemes: “Project implementation often involves handling multiple onboarding workflows at once. How do you prioritize competing tasks when deadlines conflict?”
